My Story

When I was about six years old I got a sticker book for Christmas one year that was full the most beautiful fish I had ever seen; trout. I was fascinated by all the variations of colors and patterns and proceeded to memorize and learn everything I could about this incredible family of fish. And thus, a lifelong passion and appreciation for fishing was born.

Fly fishing has enabled me to see some of the most beautiful places this world has to offer. The mental challenge of considering hundreds of variables to see what will make that difference in one particular spot on one particular day fascinates me. A day spent fishing never disappoints because everything is endlessly possible when you're on the river.

Getting a start to becoming a Professional Guide

After owning a fly rod for a few years and reading some books I wandered into Nevada City Anglers in the Sierra Nevada foothills. In a short time the shop owner had taken me under his wing. He taught me everything he could. including how to row a drift boat.

Soon I was teaching the Introduction to fly-fishing class and evolved in the lead guide for the shop. When the shop sold I went with it through three owners over the next ten years

. I had found a way to immerse myself in a lifelong passion.
